Literature Text

Alice happily made her way down the street the next morning. In one hand she held her parasol, and in the other she clutched a letter to her breast; she was terrified she might drop it. She had asked one of her tutors to help her write it, but made him swear not to tell her Master about it. It was for Thomas, for he had asked her to write him the night before. Within the letter was the suggestion of seeing a play that night.

She cut through the park on her way to the inn Thomas was staying at. She loved the park; it was an excellent place for people-watching. As she walked, she spotted something rather interesting on one of the benches; it was Thomas. As she got closer, she noticed that he was actually asleep! His body was slumped back against the bench, his head tilted over the back edge a bit. One of his hands rested on his knee, the other hanging over the back edge as well. The most interesting bit was that his legs were spread indecently. It caused a deep blush to creep across Alice’s face. W-Why is he sleeping here? Should I wake him? she thought as she quietly approached the bench. It really was an interesting sight. His mouth hung open with a small bit of drool coming out, and the occasional snore slipped out. It was actually incredibly adorable, despite everything. It made Alice just want to lay a blanket over him and leave him be. She knew she couldn’t though. What if someone else were to see him? They would assume he was a homeless bum. The fact that his knees were a mile apart did not help either.

She stood right next to the bench now, watching him. She fought with herself about whether or not she should wake him. She also wondered why on Earth he was sleeping there in the first place, since he had a room at the inn to go to. It was quite curious.

Innocent, naïve little Alice was curious as well. It was hard for her to keep her gaze from drifting between Thomas’s widespread legs. She found herself staring for a bit before she shook her head quickly and slapped herself in the face with the letter addressed to the sleeping man before her. The poor girl hardly knew what sex was, as she had no mother to teach her, nor did any of her tutors wish to broach the subject. She did know, of course, that that specific part of a man’s body was rather important for the act though. So she certainly knew that staring there was quite inappropriate. Just wake him up Alice, she told herself. She was scared to though. She was afraid that he would get mad at her. Nervous, she gently tapped his foot with her own. He let out a little noise akin to a small groan as he shifted his foot a bit, but did not wake. She kept tapping at his foot with her own until he groaned a bit louder and opened his eyes just a bit, only to quickly shut them again due to the bright sun shining in them.

“What is so bloody important..?” he grumbled, not happy to be woken up. He yawned and stretched his arms up, not adjusting the position of his legs.

“I-I’m sorry sir…” Alice apologized, afraid that he was mad at her.

As soon as he heard her voice, he sat up straight quickly, but still left his legs as they were. “M-Miss Alice?” his face turned a light pink now, as it was rather embarrassing to be caught sleeping in such a place. I must have fallen asleep while keeping watch… he felt the drool on his chin and wiped it away with his sleeve, his face turning a bit darker red. How embarrassing…

“I-I’m sorry,” she apologized again, looking down at the ground, “I just thought it would be bad if someone else were to see you sleeping here…”

Thomas shook his head, “Please do not apologize,” he sighed, “It is good that you woke me, I suppose.” He patted the spot beside him on the bench, and Alice reluctantly sat there.

“May I ask, sir, why were you sleeping here at all?” she asked, cocking her head to the side a bit.

“I was trying to keep an eye out for that animal I had mentioned,” he started, “Though it seems I must have fallen asleep at some point in the night.” It was terribly embarrassing to him for Alice to find him this way. He almost wished that his partner Nikki had found him instead, even though she would have given him hell for falling asleep on the job.

“Oh.” She supposed that made sense. “I assume you did not see anything?” She knew that her Master wouldn’t have been careless enough to let a human see him feed, though she also knew there were other vampires in the city as well…

“No,” he sighed again, “It seems it was a waste of my time.” Poor Thomas was rather cranky that he had to sleep on an uncomfortable bench for nothing.

“I am sorry,” Alice apologized for the third time, even though this was not her fault. “I hope you find something soon.” She didn’t though. He would get killed if he did.

“As do I.” Thomas leaned back on the bench again, legs still spread. It was a rather comfortable position for him, and half of the time he didn’t even realize he was sitting that way. He looked over at Alice again, “What brings you to the park on this fine morning, my lady?” He hoped it was morning. He’d lost his pocket watch long ago and was unable to check.

Her blush got slightly deeper. “I was just passing through on my way to the inn you are staying at.” This surprised Thomas a bit. “I was going to leave this letter for you.” She held up the letter, which was slightly crumpled from her holding it so tightly.

He blinked a couple times, but then smiled. “Thank you Miss Alice. May I read it now?” He was actually surprised that she was able to write. He hadn’t been thinking about that when he told her to leave a letter for him last night.

She nodded and handed the letter to him. “Please forgive any errors,” her cheeks held their pink color, “One of my tutors helped me to write it, but I still think it may have problems…”

He simply kept up his smile as he tore open the envelope. “I am sure it is fine.” He removed the letter and set the envelope aside. It was a rather… interesting looking letter. Alice did not have very good handwriting at all. It was barely legible, and there were many things crossed out…

'Dear Thomas William Hiddleston,
I am so glad that you enjoyed yesterday as well. I confess that You instructed me to write you a letter, and so I did. But I am stating the obvious There is a production of ‘The String of Pearls’ being performed tonight at The Great Theatre tonightat about eight. Perhaps we could go see it together? If you are not busy, of course. I plan to attend the show either way, but I would love like very much to see you there.
Signed,
Alice Patel'

Thomas lowered the letter and chuckled a bit. “Your grammar is quite good, Miss Alice. Though I must say that your penmanship could do with some improvement.”

She blushed more, “It is only written so well because my tutor helped me spell most of the words.” She looked down in her lap, embarrassed, “I apologize for my handwriting.”

He smiled, “Please don’t. The fact that you can write at all is rather impressive.”

She looked up at him again, eyes bright. “Really?”

“Yes really.” He frowned now. “But I must be the one to apologize now. I am afraid that I will be busy tonight and will be unable to attend this play with you.” He had to stop getting distracted and actually look for the vampires, despite his great desire to enjoy the theatre.

She frowned as well. “Oh. That is alright sir.”

He gently took her free hand, that wasn’t holding her parasol, and brought it to his lips for a light kiss. “Please forgive me. Perhaps we could do something else today, at an earlier time?” It was much easier to find vampires at night than during the day, so there was not much he could do until it grew dark.

Her blush became darker, but she smiled, “I would like that.”

He lowered her hand but did not release it. “Perfect. Perhaps we could meet for lunch again? I quite enjoyed that restaurant we went to yesterday.”

Her eyes lit up. “As you wish sir.” She was much more excited for it than she tried to let on. Thomas could tell though just how happy this made her.

He smiled sweetly at her. He really did love seeing her happy. He was often surrounded by death and sadness… Having someone sweet and innocent and happy to turn to was a nice change. “Shall we meet there at one-thirty?” That would be just after his little meeting with Nikki, which would be at the same restaurant. He truly hoped that she had learned more than he had.

“Alright.” Alice’s cheeks held their pink as she continued to smile at him. “I greatly look forward to it sir.”

“As do I, my lady.” He gently rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb. He knew he should probably leave now to get breakfast somewhere, but he had no desire to leave Alice’s side just yet. So he asked her this, “Where would you recommend I go to get breakfast, Miss Alice?”

She smiled brightly and told him all about this fantastic little café that served the best omelets. Just hearing Alice describe them made Thomas’s stomach growl, causing a light blush to creep across his face. Alice giggled, her blush still a bit deeper than his. He chuckled along with her; his signature ‘ehehehe’. To any random passerby they would have seemed like the perfect pair; laughing and chatting together, holding hands. It was a rather perfect moment.

They spoke of trivial things once again, as they had last night at the party, simply to enjoy each other’s company for a bit longer. Thomas told her of his weakness for puddings, and learned that it was a weakness they shared. Alice then told him of all the best sweet shops in the city… they ended up talking for about an hour.

Finally, Thomas let out a sigh. “I am afraid I do need to go now, Miss Alice.” He was tempted to ask her to join him for breakfast, but she had most likely eaten already. Besides, they were already going to have lunch together later.

She frowned. "Alright."

He lifted her hand, never having released it, and kissed the back of it once again. “I will see you at one-thirty, my lady.” He finally released her hand, letting it fall in her lap, as he stood up from the bench.

She stood as well, cheeks ever red. “I cannot wait until then.”

He threw her a charming smile before he bowed to her. “Neither can I.” He stood straight and looked at her just long enough to get one more good look at her blushing face, before he turned and walked away. As he did, Alice was able to see her slightly crumpled letter sticking out of his coat pocket. The fact that he hadn’t simply left it on the bench filled her with joy as she began walking in the opposite direction.

Chapter 3!! :D I absolutely love the picture I drew for this one  sleepy Hiddles is so cute

Sorry, I know this chapter is shorter than the others... But if I were to continue it further, it would be hard to get to a good stopping point without making the chapter way too long. Don't worry though, Chapter 4 will be worth the wait!! Things will start getting very interesting... ehehehe :iconheheplz: interpret that any way you like~ I really hope you guys like this one too though. It may be short, but I thought it turned out rather cute :aww:

Chapter 4 will be up next Sunday!

Nikki, Thomas's partner, will be described in further detail in *13Youko's story, which is linked to mine. They take place in the same fictional 19th century London and intertwine at points. You don't HAVE to read both to understand either story, but if you get curious about Nikki, feel free to go read her story :aww:
*13Youko's story:
Forever Together (vampire!Johnny DeppxOC)Chapter 1
Jonathan Christopher Depp couldn’t stop the grin that slipped onto his lips as he observed the young lady across the street. She had caught his attention right away with the strange outfit she was wearing. A knee length dress with a man’s trench coat reaching just past the edge of it, and boots that went up to her knees. Odd attire for a young lady, but it did catch his interest. She was looking around the Town Square with a white sheet of paper clutched in her hand. Jonathan had never seen her before. He’d remember seeing someone like her and the way she was looking around showed that she didn’t know her way around Lo

Now why can't I ever come across Tom sleeping on a park bench with legs splayed wide... ;)
